Department of Athletics Mission Statement

In accordance with the core values of Bethany College, the mission of the Department of Athletics is to educate, develop, and challenge its participants. Bethany Swedes will:

Intentionally connect with the greater Bethany community.
Develop key character traits including integrity, humility, commitment, spiritual perspective, compassion and perseverance toward success.
Maintain healthy mental, spiritual, and physical lifestyles.

Bethany's student-athletes' commitment to individual development and teamwork have defined Swedes Athletics. Bethany College has been recognized regionally and nationally for its championship teams. The Swedes belong to the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) and are a member of the Kansas Collegiate Athletic Conference (KCAC). Bethany fields teams in 22 sports:

Mission
The mission of the Office of Student Development is to foster the development of the whole person├óÔé¼ÔÇØmind, body and spirit├óÔé¼ÔÇØaccording to the rubric expressed in the mission and values of the College├óÔé¼ÔÇØnamely Integrity, Hospitality, Community, Servant Leadership, and Sustainability. We do this by providing care, direction, activity, and education in all areas of the students├óÔé¼Ôäó lives outside the classroom. This is accomplished through a variety of programs and services offered by various departments within the Office of Student Development. We also seek to collaborate closely with other key constituencies across campus.

Student Development will play a key role in articulating and celebrating the core identity of the institution by intentionally moving towards establishing a culture in keeping with the school├óÔé¼Ôäós core values. This movement will enable all constituencies and stakeholders (faculty, staff, students, parents, and the Lindsborg community itself) to be on the same page and to move in the same direction which will contribute to a uniquely ├óÔé¼┼ôBethany├óÔé¼┬Ø educational experience. In our areas of influence, we seek specifically to provide students with a rich, dynamic environment in which the intellectual, social, spiritual, and moral spheres of life reinforce one another.
